If you go down the Devouring Swarm route, make sure to try to surround smaller empires at the start of the game to slow their growth whilst building up your fleet and supporting it, going for the kill as soon as you can safely do so.Ī major benefit and possible downside about being a Devouring Swarm is that EVERY war counts as a "Total War", meaning that victory can only be obtained once all territories and planets are taken. Now, as forementioned, you don't have to worry about happiness or factions, so taking bonuses to your influence and mineral production can REALLY help you out, especially since you can't get any bonus influence from factions and you are unable to gain bonuses to production via happiness. These guys aren't doing the Hive Mind Gameplay Justice so now I'm stepping in to help you out, so strap in for your beginners guide to Hive Minds!Īlong with the +1 Monthly Influence and the +2 Core Systems, you've got some bonuses from both Authoritarian and Pacifist Ethics as well as being able to do a large chunk of what the other ethic types can do (such as Purging, Displacing, Enslaving, The ability to use Indiscriminate and Armageddon Bombardment policies, etc) whilst not needing to worry about factions (a double edged sword, as you can't get any bonus influence but you don't need to worry about unrest and uprisings for the most part) nor about happiness as all your population thinks with a unified mind! ![]()
